Mrs. Rachel Mikovich

Early Childhood Director & Interim Principal

Mrs. Mikovich joined Crown of Life’s teaching and ministry team in July 2014. She graduated from Martin Luther College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education along with coursework and student teaching in Early Childhood Education. In December 2012, Mrs. Mikovich graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She has administrative experience as an Early Childhood Center director and Vice Principal and teaching experience with 3-4 year olds and Kindergarten – 2nd grade.

As an educator, Mrs. Mikovich believes Christ’s sacrifice provides the reason and motivation for everything we do. From learning math to giving thanks for lunch to including others in play at recess – she encourages the children to shine Christ’s light in all they do.

She believes early childhood education (birth through age 8) should include ample opportunities to learn through play. Hands-on activities, manipulatives, and active learning are essential to engage young learners in educational experiences.

She also feels strongly about fostering children’s social emotional development. She aims to include social emotional learning opportunities throughout the day to engage discussion and problem solve and role play emotions and emotional situations.

She strives to create a classroom family, as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. In her classroom, students find a home-like atmosphere that encourages loving and learning, from lighting, color and furniture.

In her free time, she loves nature photography and playing piano. A fun fact about Mrs. Mikovich is that she wanted to be a trapeze artist in a circus when she was a child!
