Crown of Life Christian Academy’s curriculum is designed with flexibility to meet the needs of each student as it fosters exploration, critical thinking, problem solving, and sound study habits. All subjects are taught from a Christian perspective and prepare students for the next stage of education: academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
In elementary school, the goal of our curriculum is to provide a solid academic foundation in the core classes of math, reading, science and social studies, bible class and physical education. At this level, students are taught critical thinking skills, problem-solving strategies, and sound study habits that will prepare them for middle school and independent learning.
Below is a list of resources we use and incorporate into our learning curriculum:
OUR UNIQUE MULTI-GRADE SETTING
At COLCA, our classrooms are built on the philosophy that students learn best in real life settings. From instruction to the very way our classrooms are developed, we strive to grow a community of learners that will carry students over into real life situations with ease. We design our classrooms to develop our students not only academically but socially and emotionally. The means by which we achieve this over-arching goal is the multi-age classroom. Some of the vast benefits of this unique multiple grades setting are:
Younger children learn from older children.
Children become sound learners, receiving a mix of individual, small mixed abilities groups, and whole class instruction.
Children develop an increased sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
Teachers instruct students for more than one year, giving the unique blessing of greater time for teachers to learn students’ strengths, weaknesses, and learning habits.
